Delete Instagram this Easter and reclaim your attention
A gentle reminder that your mind wasn’t made for endless scrolling
Hello Creatives!
This Easter, I decided to delete Instagram from my phone (again haha, and TikTok lol). I’d reinstalled it recently to share about my new course, class updates, and be present for students and followers - a step that is quite essential because I am not able to create promotional reels form desktop meeeeh. And I quite enjoy creating video content in spring, with good light :) But after the initial energy wore off, I started noticing the old patterns creeping back in: the constant checking, the mindless scrolling, the low-grade buzz in my brain that felt like… digital overstimulation.
Sound familiar?
Let’s be honest — Instagram is addictive by design. Even when we use it “professionally,” it finds ways to creep into the quiet spaces of our day. And stepping away from it can feel surprisingly intense!
The stages of letting go of Instagram
1. The rationalizing.
“I need this for work.”
It feels legitimate. After all, many of us build and share our creative work online. But Instagram is a slippery slope - it rarely stays just about work.
2. The weird withdrawal.
The first few days feel like an attention hangover. I kept reaching for my phone, staring at it like something was missing. I felt restless. My brain was looking for that quick hit of stimulation - like a low-key ADHD crash.
3. The quiet discomfort.
There’s a strange emptiness when the noise goes away. I didn’t know what to do with the sudden stillness. I had to relearn how to just be - without input, without updates, being “connected” with my followers.
4. The clarity.
And then, something shifted. I started thinking more clearly. I felt more present - with my daughter, with my sketchbook, with my actual thoughts. I wasn’t being pulled away every five minutes by a glowing screen. My creative energy started to return.
So here’s my gentle invitation:
Delete Instagram from your phone this Easter.
Just for a few days. Or a week. Or however long feels good.
Let this holiday be a reset for your nervous system. A little space. A breath.
And if you’re a creator or entrepreneur, remember - rest is part of the process. You’re allowed to disconnect. You don’t have to be constantly online to be successful or visible. You can leave and return on your own terms.
I’ll reinstall it when it makes sense again - but for now, I’m enjoying the calm :) And writing this from my desktop computer hihi.
Wishing you a peaceful, screen-light Easter,
Weronika 💛
