I did not a challenge for 30 days in my life. It’s difficult to create on differents topics daily (all challenges I saw are like that). Presently, I’m preparing two Christmas collections. And I’m finishing my Lookbook. Is it possible to participate at a challenge with our own collection / themes making?
Definitely possible! You can sort of set your own challenge. For example, you could commit to creating a pattern every day. It could be A theme, but it could also be NO theme, as long as you are creating something every day. I'm currently at day 12 of my 30-day challenge and there are days where I'm really able to go with an idea that I would never consider. For instance that landscape pattern that you happened to be asking about - I might have not even finished it if it wasn't for my challenge. But since I committed to creating a ditsy pattern every day, I went with this spontaneous idea and I executed it till the end. The challenge pushed me :)
Thank you for this discovery. I would love to draw this kind of landscape (in my style for sure). Have you plan to create some Skillshare classes around this topic?
Hellooo! So great to have you here ^^ Yes! When I created that pattern, I immediately got the idea that I should create a fun project-based class about it, or maybe even a YouTube video, I need to think about it :D Currently there is one Skillshare class about the automated diamond repeat which you could use for this type of a pattern: https://skl.sh/41QwLCO You could totally use the diamond repeat template for that!
I already studied this amazing class. I’m going to plan to only use diamond pattern now because the results are better than regular half drop repeat, it’s too obvious for me. For now, I did not make landscape because I was too shy and I’m working in the juvenile industry only. But I want to change this point.
I'm so pleased to hear that you took my class, that's fantastic! Yes, absolutely - the diamond repeat is so versatile and the repeat done with the template is really next level. If you're thinking about changing industries or experimenting with themes, those automated templates will really be helpful because they will take away the math and you'll be able to focus 100% on your creative voice, without any distractions ^^
No, I’m really happy for being a children’s surface designer. I’m thinking to use only diamond automated repeat pattern only, O realized that you can use it for tossed style also. So, I’m entering in an experimental phase. So cool.
One time I did a challenge , 20 minimal wallpaper designs in 20 days and I got a great result out of that. My style is maximalist mostly but I challenged myself to create simpler designs and it helped to come out of my comfort zone and experiment more. Thanks for this great article, it’s motivating for me to do the same.
Hello dear Sara, thank you so much for sharing! Didn't we connect over Instagram today? :) Great to have you here! I totally hear you about the issue of being "the maximalist"! One goal that I have for this 30-day challenge is to create a good portion of simpler patterns (secondary and blenders), which might even take me under 30 mins per day. I tend to focus on creating complex hero patterns which take me waaaay too long. So perhaps I'll see you under #30daysofditsy? :)
It’s really hard to be consistent but I try not to be hard on myself and do as much as I can 😇 you have been doing amazing though, I enjoy your content Weronika. I definitely understand that it’s time consuming …sometimes just taking a small break helps to come back with more energy. ✨💜
Totally! I'm about to take a break now, I asked my partner to pick up our daughter, and I'll go to a cafe ^^ One finding from my challenge: before I'd be very picky. If there was something even tiny that I didn't like, I would abandon my idea. Whereas now, knowing that I committed to drawing something every day - I go with my first idea, and sometimes I end up with something surprising.
Good for you ❤️that’s very interesting right? I love it when surprises happens. Me too, sometimes when I let go and set myself free, things happen that please me and new opportunities arise. 😍keep up the great work. 😇
I'd love to hear your thoughts! Have you ever completed a longer art challenge? What impact did it have on your creative portfolio?

I just finished my professional Lookbook, so now, I can think about it 😍🤩
Bravo! ^^ Is your Lookbook digital or is it a PDF file?
Pdf on issue plateforme. https://issuu.com/leslieillustration/docs/leslie_passerino_-lookbook if you want to discover it :)

Yes we did! 🙌🏻🥰 I am also watching one of your skillshare classes and enjoying it a lot about diamond pattern. Yessss see you under #30daysofitsy 💕
How is your challenge going? :) I'm doing well, but I'm easing down on producing video content about it - so time consuming, for little extra reach.
